“That ICPA Qld lobbies the Department of Education, Department of Transport and Translink to change the ruling to allocate seats for Kindergarten children on buses that service schools offering State Delivered Kindergarten (SDK) and in rural communities that have standalone Kindergartens.”
Explanation:
In remote locations where schools offer State Delivered Kindergarten (SDK), it is imperative that Kindergarten children be allocated seats on buses to allow them to access this Kindergarten programme. It is currently up to the discretion of the bus driver which can see a parent following the bus to school to drop their Kindergarten child off due to the bus driver’s choice not to include Kindergarten children on the service.
